powerpoint and scroll lock

I am running powerpoint remotely with a serial keyboard device.
Why does powerpoint issue a scroll lock command to the keyboard
every time the slide changes? This messes up my serial keyboard timing.
There must be a way to turn off the ability to send the keyboard commands.
Some API or a short bit of code?? Please help..
