Print from a DOS application

Hello, my question is; how do I print from a DOS program with out kicking me back to windows?
I’m running a DOS program in windows, I mean, it runs in MS-DOS mode, so when I start the program it goes to MS-DOS mode,but when I try to print it takes me back to wintdows, to the printer’s software window???
how do I make it print with out going out to windows? in fact I would like to know how do you make DOS programs print wit out going out to windows in general????
