Printing delay

I’m using a Laptop, Compaq EVO 600 with Windows 2000 UK and Office 2000 UK.
When printing on a HP Officejet G95 (all in one) I have a delay of about 30 minutes bevore the printer reacts.
Meanwhile the CPU is running at 100% but nothing else is running.

Is there a solution for this delay? I want the printout today, not tomorrow. With the current comm. speeds this must be possible but my configuration thinks otherwise.

Must I find a driver update and if so where?
What else can I try?
