Printing from DOS program

OS is Win98se. Having a problem printing from a DOS program to the network HP Laserjet 4+ printer. I captured printer port but it only prints from the envelope tray. I’ve tried selecting upper tray, lower tray, manual feed in printer properties but only the envelope tray works. Any suggestions?
