problem with computer and printer

Dear Sirs,
I am having a problem with my printer not comunacating with printer and was wondering if you can help? I get there was an error writing to lpt1, there was a problem printing to the port,i tryed to reinstall printer and i got file required to uninstall the ptinter drive is missing
i hope that some one can help me i need my printer real bad. thank you for your help. i am using windows me.
