problem with Ethernet card

Hello,
I’ve installed an SMC 1211TX Ethernet card in order to connect to my flatmate’s PC.
The card was installed with no problems, no questionmarks or anything in the Device Manager.
If i recall well, when i previously was using a network the Orange LED at the back of the card was blinking when there was no cable attached and it was constantly on when the cable was attached.
Now, none of my LEDs are on!!! , and i get a Cable unplugged warning from windows even when the cable is attached.
The card is sharing IRQ(11) with 3 other devices but there are no conflicts.
I’m using a new driver from SMC.
This card was previously working, again in Win2000.
Can you think what can be wrong ?
