problem with scsi drive installation

i have a adaptec 29160 scsi adapter and a cheetah seagate hard drive and i can’t get them to work, ie the card hangs on boot up and does not find the hard disc. ive tried everything, irqs, terminations issues with no luck, please help me step by step what i need to do.
