I’ve got a problem with a hard drive install in a KTX900 laptop and wondered if anyone had any ideas?
The unit had a 1 gig HDD which has died, so I got the smallest replacement I could, 10gig IBM.
Problem is that the laptops BIOS (Phoenix NoteBios4.05) wont correctly recognize this drive, even when I enter it as a custom cylinders, heads, sectors. I’ve tried playing with the settings to try to convince the laptop that its smaller but had no luck. I’ve tried the drive in another machine without any problems. The original drive geometry was 16 heads, 2100 cylinders, 63 sectors. The new one is 16 heads, 16383 cylinders and 63 sectors, setting the BIOS to this reports 8455Mb. Fdisk reports write error on exit. I’ve searched for the manufacturers website but found no useful information. Any help would be gratefully received.
