problems with my Viewsonic LCD monitor

Everytime I turn on my computer, the screen either flickers or scrolls really fast (I really can’t tell what it’s doing). This keeps on going until the Windows desktop is loaded and then I can use the computer with no problems. I’m guessing this has something to do with the native resolution of the monitor, but is there any way to fix it? Any time a program tries to change the Windows display resolution the same thing happens and it’s really hard to change it back.

I’ve tried crt monitorsand they work fine, so I’m pretty sure its not the video card. I’m not interested in being able to change the Windows resolution, I’d just like to be able to see a legible boot and BIOS display.

I’m running WinME with a GeForce2 video card.
