Progarms behind Proxy

I am behind a proxy sever right now that requires Authorization and I am trying to run soem programs that require access to the net, but these programs won’t connect. Two of the programs are MSN Messanger and POD www.pod.com . Is there anyway to bypass the proxy or get the programs to give the proxy sever the proper authorization?
