re-installing notepad.exe

I just tried to quarantine a virus I had on my computer. Sorry I didn’t think of writing down the name of the virus. The virus infected my notepad application. The quarantine with Norton would not work; therefore Norton made the notepad application un-executable. Now…what do I need to do to get notepad back? How do I re-install notepad?
