Samba Connections

I would like to know if anyone could inform me about the details of the network interactions which take place when one connects from a Windows NT box to a shared resource on a UNIX box via SAMBA. I’m trying to figure out why our Windows NT drive mappings which utilize SAMBA are failing. Your reply is much appreciated.
