saving jpegs from web pages using IE6

Had a problem with my Outlook 2000 so I decided to reinstall it. This worked and fixed my problem but created another in Internet Explorer.????
When I try to save a picture from a web page to my computer it only gives me the option of untitled andin BMP format. It no longer picks up the name of the picture or that it is in jpg format.
What happened, how do I fix it again.
I have reinstalled IE6 to no effect. ??? Clicked on reset web settings button still no effect.?????
