Scanner quits after 98 to 98SE upgrade

Scanner has ceased to be recognized by system after Win98 to Win98SE upgrade. The scanner connects via the parallel port and stand-alone printer connects to scanner. Printer works fine. I’ve removed scanner and reinstalled to no avail. I’ve updated driver from the ‘Net. (Scanner still works fine on old Win95 system and worked well with Win98.) Now with Win98SE it’s no go.
