SCSI CDR-W problem with Windows 2000

CDR-W: Yamaha 6416S
SCSI card: Adaptec AHA-2920
OS: Windows 2000 Pro.

Problem: No matter what software is used, I can burn 1 CD and then Windows 2k is interrupted every 2 seconds or so.
It seems to be trying to reinitiate the CDRW unit.
Once I got a message saying that I tried to remove a unit without closing it first… or something like that. I’m sorry it’s not more precise. I only saw this message once.

I use dual boot and all is fine under Windows 98.

So far, the only way toget Windows 2k “back on its feet” is by removing the unit in Device Manager. When reinstalled, Windows is fine as long as I don’t burn a CD.
