Serial Mouse problem

Hello…i have an old 486 machine,running win 95 plus,w/48megs memory. My problem is Windows doesnt see the serial mouse when booting.I have tried 3 different serial mouse’s to no avail.I even installed a new cable from the m/b out.This PC has an FIC m/b.
So….is there some way to change( from the m/b)to standard PS2 type…or do i need to look elsewheres for the solution. Thank You.
