Service control manager error

I have a PC running WinNT4.0 sp6. During boot up I have been getting error messages. When I check the event log there are two errors listed–both are event ID 7000 and the source is the service control manager. One description says “the ppnt service failed to start” and the other says “par1284 service failed to start”. In both cases the error goes on to state “the system cannot find the device specified”. Any suggestions on how to determine what device the service control manager is look for. Also does anyone know where I can get more information about all the services listed in “services” on the control panel??
