Hello all
I was trying to do a clean install
of win98 from a DOS boot disk.
PII 266Mhz 128Mb Win98 SP 1 loaded
Boot disk worked as it should cd-rom
was working. With win98 cd in the drive
typed setup, scandisk started checking
the system but would not go any further
it just stopped after performing the
normal checks. Tried everything run
from cd-rom copy files from cd to
c: run from c: same results setup
just drops out after doing checks.
Finally I ran pcrestore in the toolsdirectory this got win98 loaded and
in a running state but not everything
is loaded because pcrestore expects
to be proveded with a system backup
as the last step of the run. I had no
backup so just canceled at that point
and manually configured the missing
components. Has anyone seen this
before or know what might cause it
