Shutting down a Presario 18xl3

I have a number of new Compaq Presario 18xl3 laptops. They are all running Windows 2000. To turn them off after windows said it’s okay you have to hold down ont the power button for 6 sec. Does anybody know a way so that all we have to do is just press it and it shuts off? Thanks
