Sims R.I.P

Whenever I try to play the sims…as soon as I get into the house and choose a character the game will freeze up all my computer. I have changed the graphics setting to a lower setting so my graphics card doesnt have to struggle, and use it in 800×600 mode but it still has the same problem. I have tried switching the UDMA support and graphics card setting but to no avail..can anyone help??
