Sloooooooow boot in Win98se

A PC on our LAN is taking forever (up to 5 min) to boot now. It is a PentIII 450 with 128 Ram, 13G Harddrive running Win98se. It does have printer/scanner/zip drive on USB hub ports, modem & DSL connected & 2 NIC’s. I have run scan, defrag, cleaned out all old programs and files, made startup lean etc. This machine also crashes frequently and is often very slow. System resources show 75% free. Running several of the on-line bench checks show nothing wrong but do comment that Hard drive runs seems slow for the system. My question – Where do I go from here? Should I just give up and replace the drive or is there something I’m missing. All good ideas welcome.
