Software License Management

Does anyone have any suggestions for keeping track of software licenses on a network? We are having a problem keeping track of who has what and when we have exceeded our limits with applications such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Flow Charting sofware, etc… Can anyone recommend an application or procedure to help us get a handle on this? Thanks.
