sony vaio laptop boot problems

I have a sony vaio laptop pcg-f305 runnig windows 98SE. I have fdisked it. Created 2 partitions and formated them both. I ran the restore disk. Windows started ok during the setup on the first boot. It will then just power down and appear to be off but the power light is still on. i have tried using a normal windows 98 and 98se CD. the same thing happens.

Any help will be great. thanx
