SPD not found

When my PC boots up, just below the system info box (showing drive details etc)a warning message appears; Warning, SPD not found at rows 1 & 2. I assume this it has to do with my RAM but have never heard of SPD before. It doesn’t seem to have anyadverse affect as all runs smoothly. Anyone ever heard of SPD or know what it abbreviates?
