“surface test failure,HD about to fail?

“surface test failure=HD is about to fail?

I just bought TuffTEST. pro, (tufftest.com )
it found a “surface test failure” on a MAXTOR 6L040J2 40 gig HD,I bought last december, what does that tell me, HD is about to fail?

the HD has beengiving me the blue screen of death,also IE 5,often crashes,i’m running K2000 pro,its a on a 450 megahertz AMD K6-2 ,and i’m a heavy user,use CD burner alot,on DSL,chat pgms etc ,on net 6hrs + /day
