Switching from AOL problems with IE

I brought a computer from California to Costa Rica. It used to be configured to hook up to AOL, but now I changed ISP. My Internet Explorer says it?s provided by AOL. I connect to my ISP, but cannot make IE to browse. I get a “Page cannot be displayed message”. I have Windows 98. Anybody know how to solve this? My ISP is of little help.
