Switching on PCs….

by onbliss . Updated 24 years, 7 months ago

Most of the home users use a PC with some MS operating sytems. Some of the users also use Linux, Mac or even some Unix flavours…

My view here surrounds all these different OS.

As a computer user, I expect to switch on my computer and start working immediately. Like switching on a TV, VCR, Stereo systems, or like most of the electrical and electronic appliances. I do not like to wait there watching the OS load. Its excruciatingly painful.

I know achieving this is not easy, there are hosts of issues like loading all the relevant drivers, security, logins, settings and etc. But is the OS industry and the hardware industry not pumping in money to do R&D on this at all?

Can not the OS load drivers as and when required without having to wait to load everything. Remember I am not worried about the various programs that I have configured to start up when the OS boots, but the OS itself…

I know many of us must have pondered about this issue sometime or the other… I wanted to know what is the take on this from the Techrepublic members….

Should we just resign to the fact that, thats how it is going to be or voice concern to the industry about it all.
