SYBASE CONNECTIVITY TO FRONT ENDS

I am running SYBASE ver 10.0 and 11.5 on two different servers . Our company has many small group of companies having different datbases for the complete SALES/INVOICING and FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING SYSTEMS.
I am interested in obtaining connectivity with these servers with the front end development tools such as Visual Basic / Power point etc but could not get thru . I have installed the respective device drivers for the same.Can I get some advice / help in this regard.
