Syncrinization in Outlook

I am running Outlook 2000 on a Win98 machine, with NT 4.0 as network OS and Exchange Server 5.5. It is on a lap top and I have been trying to use Outlook’s synchronization method for getting to, and writing email offline. You are also supposed to be able to get to all of your contacts and personal address book etc. Well, the synchronization works, but when I disconnect from the LAN and open Outlook, it doesn’t find any of the synchronized data. It asks for the login, password, and domain. Please help!!!!
