System clock slowing down.

I have a customer whose system clock consistently loses about 6 hrs. every day.We have replaced the battery four times. Is there anything else I should check before replacing the motherboard or the bios? We recently replaced a hard drive because it crahed. And I found a pin sticking out of one of the power plugs. Thought maybe that was shorting out but fixing his did not help either.
