Telnet functions.

My telnet sessions sometimes seem to move very slowly. I realize the echo command will echo every character it receives. I was wondering if anybody knows of any tweaks of the telnet protocol that would speed things up a bit. I do utilize bandwidth reservation in my routers which seems to help things. I work in a system where telnet sessions are used frequently.
