Toshiba Laptop display scrambled

Hi!
I have a Toshiba Pentium laptop that for some reason has flipped out.
The screen shows nothing but scrambled characters… a lot of exclamation points and other junk, while booting.
Then in windows, you can’t read the screen.
It seems to work fine, just the display.
