UDF Read CD Rom Driver

I have an NT 4.0 machine and a cyberdrive 40X CD ROM drive. I used to be able to read rewritable CDs after installing UDF_read_v102. I have re-formatted my hard disk and re-installed NT 4.0 to SP 6 and now I cannot get my CD ROM to read. If I start the PC without the CD Burner an event viewer dialog box displays and says that a driver could not start, the driver is the UDF. Yet when I have the CD burner on the event viewer dialog does not appear. There is a tie-up there I’m sure but I don’t seem to have found it. I have uninstalled and re-installed the drivers and updated to Adaptec 4.0 (with built in UDF)still no joy without the CD Burner in place. Any suggestions?
