Undocked laptop has dial up problems – N

I have a PC card NIC and a built in modem on my Compaq Armada E500 laptop. It works fine docked, but undocked, I can’t use dial up networking. Or rather, I can get the modem to dial up, but it doesn’t do any domain name resolution – can’t use the Internet or get my mail.

When I take the NIC out, it works.

How do I set up my laptop so I can use the modem without having to remove the NIC?
