Hello there. My system specs are:
Shuttle HOT 649A DUAL SLot 1 BX
2 x Celeron 333A’s (step code 665, mb0)
1 x PC133 Micron Cas 2 ram.
1 x Inno3d GeForce 2 GTS 64mb DDR
Running Win XP rev 2600
This requires a lengthy explanation.
#1 I am an electrical engineer, and have no problem with technical fixes.
The problem is:
I bought 2 x P3 1000EB (Step Code SLC48 686 08)’s
to use in my system. The main board only supports up to early pentium 3 katmai’s. I personally updated the Bios Stepcode information so it now supposedly supports Coppermines, and Tualatins. I bought 2 x PL-iP3/T’s from Powerleap. These are socket 370 to slot 1 converter cards. Powerleap sent me 2x Celeron 2 1.2Ghz by accident (they didn’t bill me [yet].)
1 Celeron 2 will work perfectly (the mod for dual Celeron 2s haven’t been figured out yet.) HOWEVER, when I add either 1 or 2 of the coppermine Pentium 3’s my system crashes at startup, or in safe mode, it hangs at AGP440.sys. It should be noted that by booting from the WIN XP CD, I can get to the repair console.
The things I have tried but didn’t work:
1) Formatting the harddrive and re-installing Win Xp. The system would crash during the Re-install, every single time.
2) under clocking theprocessors to 100MHz FSB.
I even tried 66MHz FSB, it still had the same hang up.
3) Swapping my AGP video card for a PCI one, then renaming AGP440.SYS.
The system would crash while loading a different driver at startup.
4) Running the system with ONLY a harddrive and the video card.
5) Switching to MPS Ver 1.1 & at 1.4, neither fixed it.
Win 95 boot disks work properly. This may be a Win XP problem, not a hardware problem. Intel’s CPU ID boot disk utility correctly identifies the processors.
Occaisionally I get some errors, I’ve seen IRQ_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL_TO
BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO
and a few others, the windows STOP site offers NO HELP.
