Upgrading an older system

Probably a simple question for someone out there. I have a Compaq computer, Pentium 100, 16 megs of ram. What is the highest processor i can place on the motherboard. I have heard that 233mghz is the highest. Is this true? And if i can only putin a 233 how much of an impact would it be if i put in 128 megs of ram? Any other suggestions for upgrades will also be accepted. I am placing a lot of points up for lots of quality answers.
