using kermit for secure file transfer

by sarahmeggs . Updated 23 years, 7 months ago

I notice in the current Linux Tips news letter an article about using more secure versions of ftp – wu-ftp and proftp. A different method of filetransfer, just to take a small step sideways, is kermit. I have been using kermit for some time as a daemon – iksd – on both unix and windows (NT and 2000)and as a file transfer mechanism it is superior to ftp in its offerings and actual file transfer. Definitely worth a look at, and great doco, examples, scripts etc. As well, they have a really good support dept via emails.

Check out http://www.columbia.edu/kermit/ for downloads, examples, testimonials etc.

Thanks, Gillian
