I am the IT manager for an organisation in Australia which has 5 bases spread throughout the state.
We have a WAN using Cisco routers and a 128k link between bases. The operating system is 3 x NT4 servers, and a number of users on Win9x.
As a medical organisation we are looking to implement video conferencing between our bases and the head office.
We have a couple of constraints:
1/ The majority of our doctors have laptops so we need something that will hust use USB ports – cant put a special card in the PC.
2/ We are a charitable organisation with some funding from government, so we have cost constraints.
I would be interested to hear if anyone else has implemented video conferencing and what their experiences were. Especially if they have done it on a shoestring which is pretty much what I am going to have to do.
What hardware/ software did you use? How stable, how fast/slow?
Look forward to hearing from you.
