I have a new Sony PCV-RX580 with 1.8 GHz Pentium 4 Processor, 512 MB SDRAM, running Windows XP Professional. I use McAfee online virus protection along with McAfee Firewall run on standard. One day I was alerted with my firewall protection that mycomputer had been pinged. I typed in the address of where the ping came from and when I went to the site (turned out to be a school district in Colorado) I was warned by my McAfee software that this site contained the Nimda virus. About 2 weeks later I did a virus scan and found the Nimda virus on my computer. I tried to “clean” it but had to choose “delete files”. Now I am having a problem in all Microsoft Office Professional programs. As an example, when I open MS Word and am typing, allof a sudden the “Edit” menu comes down and if I happen to type a letter in the menu choices, it executes that command. Also, if I am in Outlook and move out of the inbox and am reading mail in another folder, all of a sudden it kicks me out of thatfolder and back in to the inbox. It’s driving me crazy because when I do a scan for a virus it says my computer is clean but I am wondering if the Nimda did something. I would like to know what to do.
Thank you!
