W2K/Compaq 1GHZ machine does not see mou

Installing Kensington Orbit Trackball with latest driver from manufacturer, on a Compaq 1GHZ Deskpro EN with Nvidia video driver. Blue screens after installation. Works fine on a Compaq 400GHZ machine with W2K. Have tried all traditional methods. Suggestions?
