Warning alarm sound from PC

My PC will “lock up” many times without warning. The system makes a audible warning tone and stops on its own.

Performing SCAN DISK and DEFRAG daily seems to lessen the alarm and the system locking up.

The system is a Pentium 3 but I can not afford to replace the system.
