Whatever happened to winpopup?

We have a couple faculty that have asked for winpopup (of Win 95 & 98 fame) or something similar so they can communicate quickly. We are on Win 2K Pro now and I can’t find anything comparable. I never worked with winpopup but I understand it is an instant messaging type program. Does it, or something similar, exist for 2K? Any ideas?!?
