Which tape backup to use???

We are currently using a ColoradoII backup system which uses travan 5 Gig tapes.We are using win98 and are on a lantastic network. The tape drive will no longer initalize new tapes or recognize previous tapes.Can this be fixed?? I know they have been discontinued so I can’t by a new one, if I replace it I would like to find something that will read our current tapes.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
