WIN 2000 PROFESSIONAL – Windows Explorer

Why does Opening My Computer or opening windows explorer or looking for files/folders in WORD or EXCEL or any program takes lots of time? I have a 20 GB Hard Drive partitioned in 5 GB each. The first four partitions are only formatted.
