Win 2k IE 5 Crashes on Launch

I have a user with a Dell laptop running win 2k sp2. Everytime she launches Internet Explorer she crashes to a blue screen. I tried upgrading explorer to 5.5 it didn’t help. She can see everything on the network and netscape works with no problem. Is there a way to repair IE without reinstalling the whole system? That was Dell’s solution to the problem.
