Win 95C Corrupt registry

I infrequently get a corrupt registry error upon boot up that doesn’t seem to be related to anything done the previous time the pc was used. The only way to restore is to use norton rescue disks as the windows can’;t restore from its own backup. Any ideas? How can I tell if it is a ram issue versus a software conflict? The ram is pc 66 64 mb non-parity.
