Win mE The preloaded type

I have recently bought a laptop of quite a reasonable spec, The o’s is “me” and is pre-loaded,I managed to burn a copy off of the restore c.d for future use in the event of putting it on one of our site machines, am I likely to experience any problems, I have run it up and it seems ok, but it could’nt find a couple of files on hardware setup, which I eventually had to skip as the machine was unable to find the files on the d drive 9x, would the vendors have twisted any of the settings to prevent my use
