Win98SE CD-ROM

I have trouble with my CD-ROM/DVD reading CDs that I have written. It takes 3-4 insertions for it to read and somtimes it won’t read at all?? On the other hand the same CD will read if I use the CD-RW.
The CD-ROM/DVD will read store bought CDs.
