Windows 2000 weird installation

After installing 2000 I found I had no mouse.Manuevering on the keyboard I installed an intellimouse driver and all was well.Then I had to install 2000 again on a different computer and had the same results.No mouse.Again had to add the driver.Same cd used in each case.Could it be a bad cdmor an hcl issue.?
