Windows 95 setup- hard disk error messge

Rebuilding an old machine for a relative. It is a Pentium 100. On boot up the following message is displayed ” Your computer does not have a hard disk, your disk is not functioning correctly or your hard disk requires a special driver. The disk was a Quantum 120mb. Do I need to go into bios to check something. I tried another disk and got the same message.
